The SouthWest Jr. Dragster Series 2012 season is upon us. It has been an exciting winter and the beginning of the New Year has brought a new format, new classes, new track partners, and generous new sponsors.
 
What we tried to do over the winter was determine where we had gaps in our program and how we could change the series to fill those gaps. One of the things that we noticed was that we have a great racer’s appreciation party every Saturday night, but the racing was going on into the night and no one was able to enjoy it. To solve that issue we moved the classes around a bit. We hope to be able to be done on Saturday evening by 6pm, start the awards ceremony at that time, and be completed by 7pm. This way we can all enjoy the evening with friends, new and old, and get a little rest before starting up Sunday morning.

New Classes

We have added two new Trophy Classes to the program as well. One will be ran on Saturday and the other on Sunday. These classes were created in hopes of attracting local racers that may be wanting to get their feet wet with the series and don’t want to make a full weekend commitment.

New Tracks

We are very excited to have two new track partners for the 2012 season. The series will make its debut at Little River Dragway in Holland, Texas and Lonsetar Motorsports Park in Sealy, Texas. These two tracks have great racing history in the Texas and surrounding areas.
 

New Sponsors

The SouthWest Jr. Dragster Series has also inked full time sponsorships with several new marketing partners.
 

Preliminary 2012 Schedule and More

First the staff at the SouthWest Jr. Dragster Series would like to thank each and every one of our sponsors, tracks, racers, and parents for all of your support in 2011. We have worked hard over the last month coming up with ways to make the series even better for 2012. We look forward to seeing all of you back this next year and making new friends as we move into our sophomore season as the premiere Jr. Dragster Series in the United States. 

The SouthWest Jr. Dragster Series preliminary 2012 schedule is here. We have been working hard over the winter with all of our partner tracks to set up the 2012 schedule. We are proud to announce that there is one new track in the series' future and possibly more to come.

We have also made some changes to the run order and format of the series for the 2012 season. You can see the changes on our classes page. We have also added two all run trophy classes as well, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. These will be non-points gathering classes, but we feel like they will give our younger drivers more opportunity to hit the tree, the track, and get some really good experience in the driver's seat.

Ryan Gleghorn PhotoWe are also pleased to announce the addition two staff members and a 4 person committee that will help the series become more successful in the years to come. As most of you know, Ryan Gleghorn, announced at the last two races of the season in 2011. He has signed on to be our official announcer at all series events for the 2012 season. He did an outstanding job at North Star Dragway in September and then again at our Championship Finals at State Capitol Raceway in October of 2011. We welcome him to the SWJDS family.

Jacob Burrow PhotoAnother addition to the team is, our 2011 7.90 Index Champion/All Run "BIG" Money Bracket Champion, Jacob Burrow. Jacob's last year in a junior dragster ended with on a real upside capturing both of these championships and being in the running for others. He will assume the duties of being the Race Director and will run the lanes during all SWJDS races.

Please feel free to thank these fine young gentleman for the job they will be doing. They will be a great asset to the series in the upcoming season!
